Can anyone apply for a Hitachi Capital MPPI policy?
To be eligible for cover you must be aged 18 or over and under 65, working in the UK for at least 16 hours per week and have been so for previous 6 months. You must also be permanently resident in the UK and have a residential mortgage agreement to protect.

Who are the underwriters of the policy ?
"Hitachi Capital Insurance Europe Limited are the underwriters of this policy. Hitachi Capital (UK) PLC is a member of the Hitachi group of companies, one of the largest and most respected companies trading today. If I am a contract worker, am I eligible for cover?
Provided you have been with the same employer for at least 6 months and your contact with them has been renewed, you will be eligible for cover under this policy.

What is the cost of cover?
The cost of the policy is dependent on a number of factors. These include the deferred period and amount you want to be covered for. For a quote please click here.

How will I know when my cover starts ?
When buying the policy you will enter a start date for when the cover begins. The date will also be stated on your policy certificate.

What if I want to take out joint cover with my partner?
You can take out joint cover with your partner. You can then elect to split the total benefit payable in the event of a claim in relation to the amount each of you normally contributes to your monthly payment. i.e. 50/50, 60/40 etc.

When does the cover end?
All cover under this policy ends automatically; when you retire or reach normal retirement age; when you die; when your mortgage or rental agreement ends; if you do not pay your monthly premium to us; on the date which you are more than three month in arrears on your mortgage.

If I change my mind can I cancel this policy?
To cancel the policy you should write to the Scheme Administrator requesting the policy is cancelled and your cover will end on the date we receive your request. Write to Advent Solutions Management, 75-77 Cornhill, London, EC3V 3QQ.

How do I make a claim?
Simply call our claims line on 0845 241 0943 to request a claims form.

If I am self-employed, when would I be eligible to claim for unemployment?
If you are self employed and you choose to include unemployment cover on your policy, your business must have ceased to trade and you must be registered unemployed with the Department of Work and Pensions to be eligible to claim for unemployment under this policy.

When I make a claim are there any exclusions?
There are exclusions classed as general exclusions, unemployment exclusions and disability exclusions. We recommend that you read all of the exclusions before you buy the policy. For a full list please click here.

How long can I claim for?
You can claim for up to a maximum of 12 months.

If I claim, how long will it take for Hitachi Capital to start paying me my monthly benefit?
"This depends on the deferred period chosen.
For example you can choose either back to day one, 30 day or 60 day deffered periods.
Back to day one - You must be off or out of work continuously for 30 days and thereafter you will receive 1/30th of the monthly benefit for each consecutive day you are unable to attend work starting from your day 1 of your claim.
30 day deferred period - You must be off or out of work continuously for 60 days and thereafter you will receive 1/30th of the monthly benefit for each consecutive day you are unable to attend work starting from your day 31 of your claim.
60 day deffered period - You must be off or out of work continuously for 90 days and thereafter you will receive 1/30th of the monthly benefit for each consecutive day you are unable to attend work starting from your day 61 of your claim."

When does the Direct Debit leave my account ?
When you apply for the policy you will be given a choice of when your direct debit is collected. You can either choose the 1st, 15th or 27th of the month.
